1. Properties and Uses
Gum Rosin is kind of natural organic resin derived from pine gum that is a mixture of various organic acids with special chemical activities. Since it is easily dissolved in many organic solvents it is an important raw material for applications of paper making, soap, ink, paint, rubber, synthetic resin, electrical insulating material, and adhesives. Also gum rosin is easily softened and oxidized, the carboxylation reaction of resin acid is usually employed to produce resinate for further formulation. For using in the producing of synthetic rubber and printing ink, the gum rosin can be processed and modified into disproportionate rosin, polymerized rosin, hydrogenated rosin for further use by its double bond reactivity.
